Last year I did some photos of a university friend’s new baby girl, Sophia. I used to flat with Scott back in the day, now we’re living on the other side of the world, but still in the same part of the city. Kate’s parents were over from New Zealand as well which was a bonus. We did some photos indoors, then went to one of the local parks in Wimbledon. I had been meaning to post these photos soon, and as I looked through them again, I saw the nice one of Sophia with a single red rose (me the lover of black ‘n white imagery has converted it sorry
). It’s appropriate that I post it today then!
A little over a year ago I shot a wedding just before Christmas for Sophie and Nick (coincidentally I did some business profile photos for Sophie last week). A year later almost to the day, I was shooting the wedding of fellow Kiwi Alan – he’s been my massage therapist for many years, putting me back to rights after every wedding or job I shoot, evening out the muscle knots from carrying heavy camera bags for hours. Now I was shooting him and his lovely bride Caroline!
Alan was for years the driver of the New Zealand Olympic bobsleigh team, so there were a lot of big strapping guys – no problem for them to lift the slight frame of Caroline in the air (see further down the post). I had suggested they pick her up, but they got a little carried away (or should I say Caroline was – sorry, weak pun).
We started at Threadneedles for getting ready shots, then to Marylebone Old Town Hall for the ceremony, then back to Threadneedles again. The weather was pretty rubbish but nearby Leadenhall Market saved the day again and the interior of Threadneedles Hotel is stunning. The lovely flowers were by Sophie (a different Sophie). And if you’re looking for a massage therapist, personal trainer or life coach, Alan is your man.
One of the last photoshoots of 2012. It was a pretty grey overcast day (like today! grr…), but the autumn colours provided wonderful backgrounds. The family were over from various locations in Europe to visit one of the daughters who lives here. A very fun and funny family.![]()
