I added ‘2016’ to the title, as I’m sure I’ve used ‘winter light’ before – I tend to wax lyrical about it…

It really is a magical quality of light, aided by the sun being low in the sky for so long – and as you can see in this set – the mist rose up as if on cue. Cinematic!

A lovely set of portraits to end the year with (last shoot of the year in fact, couple of days after Christmas). When the mist thickened after sunset, I just had to do some ‘moody noir movie stills’ as the conditions cried out for it…

Stop press! The last two shots below feature the row of lamps along the path leading to the Clapham Common bandstand. Just recently (a week or two ago this January 2017), the lights have been replaced by LED bulbs. This is great for efficiency and saving energy – but the new bulbs give out a white colour. I wish they’d used warm tungsten-coloured LEDs… So it was timely that I got one of the last shots of the ‘traditional’ looking lamps as 2016 drew to a close. RIP moody movie location…

Yes folks, I’m still here and still shooting family portraits! I do spend most of my time shooting commercial/advertising photography and video however. (Here’s the new website for that).

Here are some recent family portrait images. I’ve also in the last month been in Scotland to shoot a family gathering and Germany to shoot a wedding.

Do get in touch if you’d like to do an autumn colours shoot!

Very brief update.

Every year I do a Christmas photoshoot with my cousins, the ‘Other Charlie Round-Turner‘ (for their Christmas card).  We just recently completed this year’s, managing to get some lovely shots from the usual pandemonium. However, below is last year’s, since I have it ready as a video.

Autumn colours are here and beginning to wane. I’m churning through ideas for my own annual silliness (eg. last year and one of my busier composites). I’m liable to incorporate some motion this year, watch this space…

Meanwhile, here are Will and Emily, larking about…

A perfect sunny summer evening on Tooting Common, a fun family – just need a camera! But I had to fight the kids for the cameras on this shoot – another reason I carry two cameras… 😉

Four-year old George was particularly enthusiastic behind the camera – I was impressed he could hold it up, let alone steady. I saw these guys again last Sunday at the Ickle Pickles charity summer fair – George took ANOTHER photo of me, which I will make my new profile photo on Facebook right after posting this.

Still some great summer sun, make the most of the summer evenings and weekends – get in touch for a photoshoot!

Then we’ll be getting ready for the autumn portraits season – October and November is when we need to shoot to get products and greeting cards ready by Christmas.

I did a big Downunder trip over Christmas/January – home in New Zealand for Christmas, then visited friends/family in Australia & Hong Kong. (Some scenic images of NZ here on my other website).

While in Sydney, I met up with some past clients. Introduced via mutual friends over a year ago in London, I did a portrait session with them in London when Harry was about 6 months old. Then they moved to Sydney and over a year later Luke has now taken over the 6-month-old charmer role while Harry is bigger, faster and more mischievous. We spent a lovely afternoon on Coogee beach and the light was gorgeous.

The other day I did the annual Christmas card photo shoot with my cousins, the musical Charlie Round-Turner, Tracy and little Will, in Battersea Park.

Will is about to enter the Terrible Twos stage in life and is developing a mischievous streak that is all too obvious in these photos. He is also, unfortunately, a big fan of a certain kids’ TV show featuring a pig, who likes to roll around in muddy puddles. Kids being kids like to emulate…

Shortly after shooting their wedding, Nick and Isabel did a ‘London Experience’ shoot with me also. So it was kind of a post-wedding come trash the dress (because it rained) come pre-wedding shoot (because they’ll likely have another ceremony/party in China). Being rainy dull conditions I was thinking dramatic moody black/white imagery, but they’re a fun, irrepressible couple so we didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits.

Couple of my favourite shots to begin with, more images plus a YouTube video further down after the ‘view full post’ link.
