Just a quick post, have been doing a few autumn shoots that are waiting backstage to be blogged…

Some of you will remember the summer brochure shoot I did for The Little Legs Clothing Company. We recently took Helen’s daughter/long-suffering model out again, this time to Battersea Park (which is starting to look great in the ripening autumn colours by the way).

There is a short window of opportunity when the autumn colours are at their height, but leaving enough time to order products before Christmas – in other words GET IN TOUCH NOW if you’re thinking of booking a portrait experience!

A few weeks ago I covered the wedding of Penny and Sam in Bristol, the venue was the wonderful Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s SS Great Britain. It was a stormy day, but that made for wonderful dramatic skies and we seemed to be lucky that breaks in the rain generally coincided with our outdoor photo sessions. Penny is a very creative soul and embroidered the bag included below (as well as being a super-knitter). I loved the Celtic designs (they went to Ireland for their honeymoon by the way).

I seem to have a lot of twins as clients! Mostly kids of course, plus some adults. In fact, this is the second family I’ve photographed (that I can think of just now) that have boy/girl twins of ~toddler+ age and an older but pre-school sister. Eg. this shoot last year. I love how twins often mirror each other in their movements…

Anyway, we had a lovely time on Wandsworth Common. I tend to favour black/white in a lot of my photography, but decided to go colour for a lot of these – and I am looking forward to the colours of autumn!

Christmas is looming! I know, I dislike the commercialism that seems to get earlier every year, but if you are considering getting portraits done as Christmas gifts, then book soon, as you want it done by October/November at the latest (did I mention autumn colours?!) to allow time for products to be crafted and dispatched to you, then to family…

Pin this London photographer Charlie Round-Turner image to your Pinterest boardA very quick post this afternoon. Off to a wedding on an historic ship tomorrow (stay tuned for the blog post in a few weeks).

I will post a family portrait experience early next week, but right now I’d like to announce:

My photo App is now available on Android. It’s FREE btw.

Here’s the iPhone version for those who don’t already have it.

I have also added a new gallery to the App, with most of my ‘Looking Up’ photos so far.

Thanks for looking!

Last year I shot the wedding of Anita and Mike in Germany. Britt was a bridesmaid there and recently got married herself. Anita and the girls whisked her over to London several weeks ago for a surprise hen weekend, part of which involved a calendar shoot with yours truly.

Midday on a hot summer weekend isn’t the first choice of time for a photo shoot, but Peckham Rye Park provided great locations and the girls were wonderful models of course!

Several weeks ago I covered the wedding of Amanda and Can (pronounced with a J). The ceremony was at the impressive Islington Registry Office, then a friendly black cab took the three of us up Primrose Hill for photos. Finally the reception was at The Clarendon in Notting Hill where The King himself put in an appearance for the party.

The first couple of portraits of Amanda were grabbed in a spare minute while we waited for her walk up the aisle. A later one was taken with me bouncing around inside of the black cab, wedging my head and camera against the ceiling, to get the ‘peaceful beauty’ shot…

Shortly after shooting their wedding, Nick and Isabel did a ‘London Experience’ shoot with me also. So it was kind of a post-wedding come trash the dress (because it rained) come pre-wedding shoot (because they’ll likely have another ceremony/party in China). Being rainy dull conditions I was thinking dramatic moody black/white imagery, but they’re a fun, irrepressible couple so we didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits.

Couple of my favourite shots to begin with, more images plus a YouTube video further down after the ‘view full post’ link.

I recently covered yet another Chinese wedding in London – the second in about a month. The main ceremony was at the charming Pitzhanger Manor House in Ealing. I loved this venue as there are plenty of locations for photos both inside and outside. The gardens have covered areas so that might even be OK in light rain – which we thankfully didn’t get this day.

Photos really do look better presented in an album. I’m not showing the actual album design here, but I have grouped some of the images the way they are in the album.

Baby Lara was about 2 weeks old when we took these photos, all inside their house near Wimbledon. I’ve had some textured background images sitting in a folder on my computer for a while and finally decided to try them out. One blends them in, adjusts the opacity and brushes them away where not wanted.

Which do you prefer – textured filter (first photo) or none (second version)? I also managed to get a couple of shots of her big brother Matthew – a very energetic, never-sits-still 2 year old…

Here are a few of my favourites from a recent wedding. It was a real mix-of-cultures wedding, appropriate for the UK. Chinese tea ceremonies, church ceremony, then Chinese banquet. Being Church of England, I wasn’t allowed to take photos during the ceremony, but the very nice priest did allow some at beginning and end, plus we could take portraits in the church afterwards (for which we used some off-camera-flash).
Then we went on to a secret garden my clients had found (photos attached), but as we found out afterwards, we weren’t supposed to take photos there either (there were no signs though!) – but that’s another story…

Some of you may recognise one of the ladies – or both actually. A few months ago I did a pre-wedding shoot with Xulin and Noel, then recently did a portrait experience with her twin sister Polin, her husband Adrian and their little princess Chloe. Youtube video (best in full-screen and 720HD) below or photos inside/further down for those who can’t be bothered watching videos…

I have a backlog of portrait sessions and weddings to blog about, so will try and mix it up – this time a wedding.

A few weeks ago I photographed the wedding of a photographer friend – no pressure then… Despite Les being a wedding photographer himself, I still had the usual worry about trying to get time with the married couple before the light disappeared – ‘Um, guys? Can we go do some portraits now..?’… sigh, we made it though. 😉 The wedding and reception was at the lovely Combe Bank School near Sevenoaks.
